I am a media artist living and working in Amsterdam.
My works deal with (con)formations, social behaviour, unwritten rules and human patterns.
Context plays a large part in my work. I often create site specific installations & situations. The objects I create function more as a medium for creating a moment of interaction or intervention, than being a work in itself. I find it most interesting when the audience becomes part of the work and intervene with the work. When I can get people to play with the objects or situations I create, the work succeeded.
I am inspired by social patterns and hidden rules of complex systems. Or how/why we do things out of a sense of what we are supposed/expected to do. Consciously or unconsciously.
Besides creating work I enjoy working together with people from different backgrounds and with various disciplines to organize events and exhibitions.
Together with Eelco Wagenaar I founded de salon amsterdam which is a monthly event where artists are invited to show and talk about new works or projects to test them out on an audience. And I am part of the AWA (artists with attitude) collective with whom I’ve run a galleryspace at OT301. We created an artist in residency and organized events like GOGOproject, Beehives Experiment and are now working on an post gallery space.
If I am not doing art I work as a marketing communication advisor at the University of Amsterdam
